OXFORD, Ohio - Miami University field hockey coach Jill Reeve recently completed the NCAA Women Coaches Academy which took place from Dec. 13-17 in Denver, Colo.

The highly-regarded academy focuses on skills that are necessary for success, beyond X's and O's, including management strategies, communication skills, goal setting, and mentoring.

Started in 2002, the WCA was designed to educate and motivate female coaches in the expanding roles of a collegiate head coach. Additional components of the format included gender equity, history and culture of women's sports, principles of marketing, public speaking, and networking.

Reeve spoke about her experience at the academy.

"It was a life-changing experience for me. I was fortunate to be selected to take part in the academy and it has given me skills to succeed not only in the arena of sport, but life as well."

Reeve recently finished her fourth season as the head coach at Miami. The '07 RedHawks advanced to the finals of the Mid-American Conference Tournament for just the second time in program history. Miami was 10-11 overall and 6-4 in the MAC last season.
