Dec. 15, 2009

OXFORD, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference office announced the All-Academic Field Hockey Team on Tuesday. Senior defensive back Katie Brightwell and senior forward Mary Hull spots on the team for their academic achievements this season. The roster was voted by the faculty athletic representatives at MAC institutions.

This is the first time receiving this honor for both of the Miami representatives. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. Brightwell is an exercise science major at Miami, while Hull is majoring in sports studies.

Athletically, Brightwell and Hull were leaders as well, representing two consistent starters and scoring threats, guiding the 2009 Miami field hockey team to the MAC Championship Game. Both were named to the First Team All-MAC, the MAC All-Tournament Team, and, most recently, earned spots on the NFHCA Second Team All-West Region.
