THIS WEEKEND'S CONTESTS: Miami's defense this season has been one of the best in the Mid-American Conference holding opponents to 2.0 goals per game, but the offense has sputtered as the RedHawks dropped their third consecutive game at Ohio State on Sunday, Sept. 22. The 4-0 loss to the Buckeyes was the third shutout against the RedHawks this season, and they look to turn things around as they travel to Kent State (5-1, 0-0 MAC) for their MAC opener on Friday, Sept. 27 at 3 p.m.

The Golden Flashes, who defeated Miami in both meetings last season, have not lost to the RedHawks in the last 11 contests. Miami's last victory against Kent State was a 6-0 shutout on November 1, 1996. In the all-time series Kent State holds a slight edge 25-21-1.

After their MAC opener against KSU the Red and White pack up and travel down to Athens, Ohio to take on last year's MAC champion Ohio University (2-3, 0-0). The Bobcats enter the weekend on a four-game winning streak against Miami. The RedHawks play OU on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 1 p.m. on the same field that they lost 9-0 to the Bobcats last season.

MIAMI'S LAST TIME OUT: The No. 19 Ohio State Buckeyes rattled off 16 shots in the first half against Miami in a 4-0 victory on Sunday, Sept. 22. It was the RedHawks final non-conference game before their MAC opener against Kent State this weekend.

Miami had several scoring chances in the second half but were unable to muster anything more than a shot that flew wide off the stick of freshman Lindi Bortnik (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson). With the Buckeyes recording three yellow cards in the game the Red and White played several minutes with two extra players on the field but were still unable to get the offense rolling. Suffering their third shutout of the season, Miami's goal drought extends to 192:22.

GOAL DROUGHT NEARING 200 MINUTES: After suffering two consecutive shutouts the RedHawks have gone 192:22 without scoring a goal. Freshman Jessica Saling (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) scored the RedHawks last goal against Appalachian State on Sept. 13. It was Saling's team-leading second goal of the season.

ORR-GANIZING THE DEFENSE: Sophomore goalie Kerri Orr is quickly making a name for herself as one of the better goaltenders in the MAC. After limited action in her first season, Orr has already recorded her first collegiate shutout and is third in the conference with a 1.87 goals against average and second with a .755 save percentage.

With seven saves against UMBC on Sept. 8, Orr recorded her first career shutout as the RedHawks won the game 1-0 and ended their 21-game losing streak. Despite not collecting a victory against Davidson, her 10-save performance set a new career high. Orr wasted little time setting a new career high for saves in a contest when she stopped 12 Buckeyes' shots in Miami's 4-0 loss to Ohio State last Sunday.
