OXFORD, Ohio - Miami freshman goalkeeper Abbey Huck has been named the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week for her performance in her first two RedHawk contests this past weekend in the Miami Kick-off Classic in Oxford.

Huck recorded a shutout in her first game and start for the RedHawks, stopping four shots in a 5-0 win over Davidson. The Emmaus, Pa. native then allowed just one goal late in a 6-1 win over Richmond, a team that had defeated Ball State, 8-3, on Saturday, stopping five Spider shots.

A graduate of Emmaus High School, Huck is leading the MAC in goals against average at 0.50 and save percentage at .900.

Miami will travel to Evanston, Ill. this coming weekend for Friday and Saturday games against Northwestern and Sacred Heart, respectively.

Miami and Missouri State are both 2-0 following the weekend action, while Ball State, No. 20 Ohio, and Kent State are each 1-1 and Central Michigan was inactive.
