OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University head field hockey coach Jill Reeve announced Monday the hiring of Lisa Wasser as an assistant coach with the RedHawk program. Wasser had spent the past two seasons as a graduate assistant at Wilkes University.

“I am very excited for Lisa to join our staff,” said Reeve. “She brings a savvy eye for the game and a competitive drive that will have an immediate influence on the team."

Wasser helped lead the Lady Colonels to a school record 18 wins and No. 20 national ranking in NCAA Division III in 2008. She was a four-year standout for Louisville from 2003-06. She earned second team All-BIG EAST honors in 2005 and 2006 and was named to the first team of the All-West Region by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association during her senior season in 2006. Wasser was named the Cardinals’ team MVP in 2004 and 2006 and played in the 2006 NFHCA Senior All-Star game.

"I couldn’t be more excited to begin my Division 1 coaching career as a Miami RedHawk,” said Wasser. “This is an awesome opportunity because it allows me to work with one of the best field hockey coaches in the country and help build our program into a national powerhouse."

The RedHawks open their 2009 season on Aug. 28 when they travel to Charlottesville, Va. to take on Virginia at 3 p.m.
