OXFORD, Ohio - Miami University's Kate Snyder, a freshman forward on the RedHawk field hockey squad, has been selected to be a part of a regional team for the United States Field Hockey Program.

Snyder, who scored a goal and had two assists in nine games played last fall for Miami, was selected to the Midwest Region High Performance squad. This is a group of athletes that will train together and participate in a National Championship Series this summer. These teams will be evaluated in the championships and be in consideration for selection to the U.S. National squad.

USA Field Hockey's High Performance Training Centers identify and train potential National Team athletes through comprehensive technical and tactical training sessions and top level competitions. The centers allow athletes to train in regional areas close to their homes by some of the country's top coaches.

Training sessions for the Midwest squad take place at the University of Iowa and begin on May 9. The sessions later move to the University of Michigan and the summer program concludes with the National Championship Series on June 14-21 in Virginia Beach, Va.

The Miami RedHawks open their 2008 regular season when they host the Miami Kick-off Classic on Aug. 30 and 31, facing Davidson and Richmond at the Miami Turf Field.
