OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University field hockey squad ended the 2008 Midwest Spring League with a 3-2-2 record against some of the toughest competition in the Midwest.

Teams competing in the 2008 Midwest Spring League included Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Kent State, Northwestern, Central Michigan and Miami.

On March 30 in Kent, Ohio, Miami tied Kent State 1-1 and fell to Ohio State 3-1. On April 12 at home, the RedHawks downed Michigan State 2-1 before beating Northwestern and Central Michigan by a count of 1-0. Closing out competition on April 13 in Columbus, Ohio, Miami tied Northwestern 0-0 and fell to the Buckeyes 1-0.

Michigan State finished with a league-best 5-2 mark, while Michigan was 3-1-2. Miami's 3-2-2 was third, as the RedHawks gave up a league-low six goals.

The Red and White will open up the 2008 regular season when they host Davidson and Richmond in the Miami Kick-Off Classic on Aug. 30 and 31.
