OXFORD, Ohio - Six members of the 2002 Miami University field hockey team were recently named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National Academic squad. Student-athletes selected have attained a minimum overall GPA of 3.30 through the first semester of the 2001-02 academic year and are starters or key reserves on their respective teams.

Juniors Amy Butterworth (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton), Lauren Plapp (Overland Park, Kan./Barstow School) and Angie Snedden (Sarnia, Ontario/St. Christopher's) head up the list of RedHawks selected to the academic squad. All three earn their second NFHCA academic squad honors while joining them with her second honor is sophomore Gillian Lindsay (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/Cleveland Heights). First-time academic squad honorees for Miami are freshman Jessica Saling (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart) and Keri von Kalinowski (San Diego, Calif./Scripps Ranch).

The RedHawks are currently in the midst of their spring season but will open the 2003 ledger on August 31 at Indiana at either 1 p.m. or noon.
