Final Stats

KENT, Ohio – The second-seeded Miami RedHawks fell to the third-seeded Ohio Bobcats 2-0 Friday in the Mid American Conference Field Hockey Semifinals. Miami finishes its season 14-7, while the Bobcats improve to 11-11 and will face Kent State in the MAC Championship on Saturday.

The game was a defensive struggle throughout as the RedHawks out shot the Bobcats 9-7. Ohio got on the board at the 17:23 mark when Katherine Ballard scored from 25 yards out. The Bobcats got an insurance goal at the 48:06 mark when Marcy Dull scored on a breakaway.

Miami nearly got on the board with a late flurry in the last two minutes of the game. Mary Hull and Tricia Clark had back-to-back shots that were saved by the Ohio goaltender. Kate Snyder got a piece of the rebound, but her shot was blocked by the defense, and Ohio was able to run out the clock. Hull led the RedHawks with three shots total.

Kent State went on to win the MAC Championship Saturday with a 1-0 win over Ohio. At the conclusion of the tournament, Hull and Danielle Gaynor were named to the All-Tournament Team.

The 14 wins by Miami in 2008 represent the team’s most victories since they won 14 in 1983.
