Lisa Wasser begins her second season as an assistant on the Miami University field hockey staff. She comes to the RedHawks from Wilkes University, where she spent two years as a graduate assistant.
At Miami, Wasser is responsible for all aspects of recruiting as the recruiting coordinator. In her first season with the RedHawks, she helped mentor five players to All-MAC recognition. That included Katie Brightwell and Mary Hull, who each were also recognized as NFHCA All-Region team members.
At Wilkes, Wasser helped lead the Lady Colonels to a school-record 18 wins and No. 20 national ranking in NCAA Division III in 2008. In addition, Wasser has spent four years coaching the International Field Hockey Club of Kentucky, two years coaching the Valley Styx Club and six years working with the USA Field Hockey Futures Program. She was asked to present on a defensive drill panel at the National Coaches Convention in 2009.
She was a four-year standout player for Louisville from 2003-06 and served as the team's captain in both her junior and senior years. She earned second team All-BIG EAST honors in 2005 and 2006 and was named to the first team of the All-West Region All-American squad by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association during her senior season. She won Louisville's Female Anthem Leadership Award in 2005 and was a BIG EAST Player of the Week in 2006. Wasser was named the Cardinals' team MVP in 2004 and 2006 and played in the 2006 NFHCA Senior All-Star game.
"I couldn't be more excited to begin my Division 1 coaching career as a Miami RedHawk," said Wasser. "This is an awesome opportunity because it allows me to work with one of the best field hockey coaches in the country and help build our program into a national powerhouse."
Wasser is a strong mentor for the RedHawks academically as she was named to the NFHCA National Academic Squad each of her four years at Louisville, and was a two-time BIG EAST Academic All-Star. In her first year at Miami, both Katie Brightwell and Mary Hull were named to the MAC All-Academic squad.
A native of Dallas, Pa., Wasser earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education and special education from Louisville in 2007, and gained a master's degree in instructional technology from Wilkes in 2009.
