Miami's women's basketball team arrives in Zurich, Swizterland.

Hello Everyone,
We have been in Zurich for one day now and I have already noticed a lot of the cultural differences. The first thing I noticed was all of the BMW's and Mercedes cars. Here those cars are similar to Hondas and Fords in the US. FYI ... the taxicabs are even Mercedes. Another big difference is the way people drive. Katie and I were sitting outside our hotel yesterday evening and noticed how there were no stop signs or lights at several intersections. So, it looked like a first-come, first-serve intersection. And another thing with the driving, pedestrians better look both ways. This goes for Jana, who almost had her elbow ripped off by a cable train.

Last night at dinner our waitress had a little trouble communicating with us. She had trouble counting how many people were on each check. We had to wait at least 20 minutes before we could even order, but it was worth the wait. The food was excellent!

The hotel rooms are somewhat smaller than what we are used to. Jana and I had to sleep in the same bed. Another difference with the room was the bathroom doors. They were made of clear glass...where is the privacy?

Evalyn, our tour guide, was an excellent host, but it was hard to understand her because we were all so tired from getting off the plane. Jet lag was already setting in.

Well, it has been fun so far, and it is only 4:30am back home, so I better get back to bed. I need my rest so we can beat the Swiss team tomorrow.

Before I go...I wanted to let you know that the police sirens remind me of the movie The Diary of Anne Frank. Have a great day and see you soon.

Heather

P.S. We want to thank McDonalds Corp. back home for their donation towards our dinner.
