OXFORD, Ohio (Dec. 2) -- Kim Lancaster ripped down a career-high 12 rebounds and tallied 19 points to lead Miami University's women's basketball over Wright State 70-63 in Saturday evening's home opener. Lancaster exploded in the second half, scoring 15 points and pulling down six boards to seal the win for Miami (3-3).

Miami jumped out to an early 10-2 lead as Kelli Stamper and Heather Cusick both notched three points apiece during the stretch. The RedHawks took advantage as the Raiders connected on only two of their first 14 field goals.

However, Wright State got back into the game as it used a 9-2 spurt to take a 20-19 lead with just over three minutes remaining in the half. Mandy Jelinek drained six points for the Raiders.

After Beth Roederer knocked down a three-pointer late in the half, Miami took a 25-23 advantage to the locker room.

Both teams struggled offensively in the first half, hitting just 35 percent of their shots from the field.

In the second half, Miami and Wright State went back-and-forth for much of the half. Then, Miami broke open with a 10-0 run to take a 54-44 lead with just over five minutes remaining in the contest. During the run, Lancaster drained six of her 15 second-half points.

Wright State (1-4) fought back and pulled to within three points with 17 seconds remaining, but four consecutive foul shots by Miami closed the game.

Cusick added 15 points and three steals for the RedHawks. Hollie Nelsen and Roederer each broke double digits in scoring, tallying 12 and 10 points, respectively.
