LOOKING TO WIN ON ROAD: The RedHawks are looking to win their first road game of the season after dropping the the first two. Last year, it took until the fourth game of the season, a 64-45 victory over Youngstown State, for Miami to earn its first road win. Despite that, it became a very strong road team, winning eight of its last 11 games away from Millett Hall.

SCHONE’S RECORD BOOK JOURNEY: Senior point guard Jenna Schone is continuing her attack on the Miami record books. She recently became the 14th player in RedHawk history to pass the 1,100 point mark, and now has 1,121 points for her career. Schone needs 106 points to move into the top 10 on the Miami Career Points list and would pass on the way RedHawk legends Tonya Stubbs (1,148 points), Gaby Downey (1,192 points), Linda Mallender (1,208 points) and Kris Livingston (1,226 points). With 191 three-pointers made she should soon become the fourth player in school history to hit 200 treys, and is currently 42 short of breaking Heather Cusick’s record of 230. Finally, with 437 career assists, Schone is nine short of passing Carrie Kent (445 assists) for second all-time. Cusick holds the career assist record at Miami at 596.

LAST GAME: The RedHawks fell to Wake Forest 81-59 on Saturday in Winston-Salem, N.C. The RedHawks were in the game for the first 28 minutes, trailing 50-48 with 12:24 remaining. Miami went cold and only scored two points over the next eight and a half minutes, as the Demon Deacons opened up a 69-50 lead. Jenna Schone had a strong game for the RedHawks scoring 20 on 7-of-14 shooting, including 4-for-5 from three-point range. Another bright spot was the play of freshman forward Erin Wisner, who scored 11 points and brought down seven rebounds. Miami only shot 35 percent for the contest.

ABOUT WRIGHT STATE: Wright State is 2-2 on the season. The Raiders reached the championship game of the Robert Morris Thanksgiving Tournament over the weekend by defeating IUPUI 59-57 on Saturday, but fell to the host Robert Morris 65-57 in the championship game on Sunday. WSU is led by sophomore guard LaShawna Thomas, who averages 16.8 points per game. Another key player is starting point guard Shey Peddy, who averages 13.5 points per game. Wright State is a strong defensive squad, allowing only an average of 58 points per game so far this season.

SERIES HISTORY: Miami has dominated the all-time series with the Raiders, winning 18 of 21 meetings. The RedHawks have won the last two games against Wright State, including a 63-54 win in Oxford last season. Miami trailed at halftime 24-21, but 15 second-half points by Jenna Schone helped lead the comeback win. Schone and Amanda Jackson each finished with 20 points for the RedHawks.

MIAMI VS. HORIZON LEAGUE: Miami has had tremendous success against the 10 teams that currently make up the Horizon League, holding an overall record of 52-10. The RedHawks have faced every team in the league at some point and hold wins against all except Loyola, who they fell to in their only meeting. In addition to the 18-3 record against Wright State, Miami has had success against Butler (10-1), Cleveland State (7-0), Valparaiso (6-0) and Youngstown State (5-2).

UP NEXT FOR REDHAWKS: It’s the first of two holiday tournaments for the RedHawks, as they travel to Colorado Springs, Colo. and the United States Air Force Academy to participate in the Air Force Tournament Dec. 5-6. The RedHawks face Texas Pan-American in the opener of the tournament on Dec. 5, with the host Falcons taking on North Carolina Central. The consolation and championship games are on Dec. 6. Miami returns to the area for a game at Dayton on Dec. 10 at noon and is next at home when it hosts Butler as part of a men’s/women’s doubleheader on Sat. Dec. 13.
