BOSTON, Mass. (Nov. 18, 2000) -- Miami University's women's basketball could not overcome costly turnovers as it fell to Baylor University 75-62 Saturday evening at "The Roof" in Boston, Mass. Miami committed 29 turnovers for the game, including 19 first-half errors.

Miami and Baylor exchanged baskets for much of the first half. However, Baylor guard Sheila Lambert broke out for 14 points in the half to give the Bears a narrow 32-30 lead heading into the half.

For the first half, the RedHawks shot 35 percent from the field and a perfect 10-of-10 from the charity stripe. Heather Cusick dropped in nine points and Jenny Martin added eight in the first half.

In the second half, Baylor raced out of the gates as it went on a 19-3 run to start the second frame. Danielle Crockrom pitched in eight points during the run, giving the Bears a 51-33 lead with just over ten minutes remaining in the game.

However, Miami responded with an impressive 12-2 spurt of its own, cutting the lead to 53-45. Hollie Nelsen and Kim Lancaster sparked the comeback with a three-pointer and four points, respectively.

The Miami charge ended, though, and the Red and White could not muster another comeback, falling in its season-opener for the second consecutive year.

Nelsen led the RedHawks with 15 points, including four three-point field goals. Cusick added 14 points, while Martin rounded out the Miamians in double figures with 10 points.

Miami is back in action on Sunday as it plays Boston University in the consolation game of the Boston University Invitational. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
