Voting for the teams was conducted among 24 members of the league's media contingent as well as the league's head women's basketball coaches.
Bowling Green was the pick to win the MAC East, receiving 22 first place votes. Kent State finished second in the poll, receiving the other 12 first place votes. The East Division was rounded out by Akron in fourth, Ohio in fifth and Buffalo in sixth.

Miami returns eight letterwinners from last year’s team that went 16-15 overall and 7-9 in the MAC.
