Women's Basketball Team Opens Practice

OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University women’s basketball team opened its defense of its 2008 Mid-American Conference Championship Friday with its first practice of the season. The two-and-a half hour session allowed the nine returning upperclassmen work with the newcomers for the first time.
“It was a good practice,” head coach Maria Fantanarosa said. “The returning players knew a lot of the drills and were willing to work with, and encourage our younger players to help build this team.”
The RedHawks take the court for an exhibition against the Hoosier Lady Stars on November 9, at 2 p.m. in Millett Hall. Miami opens its season November 14, at Eastern Illinois. Game time is scheduled for 8 p.m. (EST).
