CLEVELAND-One-year removed from a remarkable junior season in which she led the Mid-American Conference in scoring and became just the second Miami University women's basketball player to earn MAC Player of the Year honors, senior Heather Cusick (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo) has been honored by the MAC News Media Association as a member of the preseason MAC East Division all-conference team.

Joining Cusick on the team, which was released earlier today by the MAC office, were Andrea Csaszar and Valerie Zona of Kent State, Ida Dotson of Marshall and Jessica Kochendorfer of Buffalo. The MAC West Division unit consisted of Ball State's Tamara Bowie, Western Michigan's Kristin Koetsier, Northern Illinois' Jennifer Youngblood, Bowling Green's Francine Miller and Toledo's Tia Davis.

"This is an honor that Heather truly deserves," head coach Maria Fantanarosa said. "She has been a leader of our team for the past three seasons, and we'll be looking for her to provide that same leadership during her senior campaign."

Cusick grabbed the attention of the MAC last season by averaging 17.5 points per game and ranking among the MAC's statistical leaders in points, assists, steals and 3-point field goals. Entering her senior season, Cusick is already Miami's career leader in assists and 20-point games and could also finish her career as Miami's career leader in points, field goals made and attempted and 3-point field goals made and attempted.

One of the most durable performers in the history of the Miami program, Cusick has played in all 87 games of her collegiate career while making 84 consecutive starts. She has made a steal in 67 straight games, dished an assist in 58 straight contests and has scored in double figures 69 times, including 26 games with at least 20 points.

Cusick is the third Miami player in the past four seasons to earn preseason all-MAC recognition, with Kim Lancaster earning the honor in 2001 and AuBree Hamilton achieving the privilege in 1999.
