    MUNCIE, Ind. (Feb. 3) -- Miami allowed a season-high-tying 57 points in the second half and Ball State shot 92 percent from the foul line as the RedHawks dropped a 95-83 decision Saturday (Feb. 3) night. The Cardinals finished 23-of-25 from the charity stripe for the game.

    After a close battle for much of the first half, Miami took a 39-36 lead at the 3:07 mark as Heather Cusick connected on a three-point play. After a basket by Ball State, Jenny Martin added a three-point play of her own, giving the RedHawks a 42-38 halftime advantage.

    For the half, both teams shot a blazing 52 percent from the field and each snagged 16 rebounds.

    Miami stretched its lead to as many as 10 points (52-42) as Melanie Kozlowski drilled a jumper from inside the arc. However, Ball State launched a 21-4 run to take a 74-65 advantage, a lead in which it would never relinquish.

    The RedHawks pulled to within three points with 5:26 remaining on a Kozlowski three-point play, but they could never get any closer.

    Kim Lancaster led the Red and White with 22 points. Cusick added 17 points and a game-high eight assists, while Colleen Day poured in a career-high 12 points and career-best-tying nine boards.

    Tamara Bowie led all scorers with 28 points for Ball State.

    For the game, Miami shot 50 percent from the field and 71 percent from the line, while the Cardinals ended the contest shooting 53 percent from the field.

    Miami (10-9, 4-5 MAC) is back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 7, as it travels to Marshall. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. in Huntington, W.V.

    Game Notes: Cusick finished with four steals, extending her consecutive games with at least one steal to 28 ... for the first time this season, Miami lost while scoring at least 80 points. Previous to this game, the RedHawks were a perfect 6-0 ... Hollie Nelsen ended with a career-high six assists in just 18 minutes of action ... Miami finished with a season-high 26 assists.
