OXFORD, Ohio-For the second time this season and fifth time in her career, Miami University women's basketball standout Heather Cusick (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo) has earned Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week accolades.

Cusick averaged 20.0 points and 6.5 assists per game as Miami advanced to 2-0 in the MAC with home wins over the University at Buffalo and Western Michigan University. In the 66-60 defeat of Buffalo on Jan. 3, Cusick poured in a season-high 24 points, including four 3-point field goals, while dishing out five assists. The junior followed with another strong outing on Jan. 5 versus Western Michigan, netting 16 points while dishing out a season-high eight assists and snaring three steals. Cusick also extended her strings of games played (70), games started (67), double-digit scoring games (12) and games with a 3-point field goal (17).

A two-time honorable mention all-MAC selection, Cusick needs just 25 points to become the 13th Miami player to reach 1,000 career points. She currently ranks among Miami's career top five for assists (4th-365), 3-point field goals (4th-143) and free throw percentage (4th-.789) and could finish her career ranked among Miami's Top 10 in 10 major statistical categories.

Cusick was previously honored as the MAC's East Division Player of the Week on Dec. 3 after leading Miami to consecutive wins over Valparaiso University and Butler University. She was honored as the East's player of the week once last season and twice named MAC Offensive Player of the Week (prior to the divisional format) as a freshman. Miami's Colleen Day (Independence, Ohio/Holy Name) earned the honor on Dec. 17.

Miami (8-5, 2-0 MAC) and Cusick go in search of the program's first 3-0 MAC start in three years this Wednesday when the RedHawks travel to the University of Akron for a 7 p.m. tip.
