GALLERYDAYTON, Ohio -- A 21-3 run over the final 10 minutes of the first half reversed a slow start and lifted Miami to a 77-60 victory over Wright State Tuesday night at the Nutter Center. Jenna Schone tallied 16 points and eight assists, while Courtney Reed added 15 points and six rebounds.
Freshmen Maggie Boyer and Rachael Hencke also reached double figures, scoring 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Miami (3-2) fell behind 9-2 in the first three minutes, but Stephanie Ford scored five straight points to start a 9-1 run. Reed's fastbreak layup at 14:57 forced Wright State into a timeout and gave the RedHawks an 11-10 lead.
The Raiders (2-3) scored nine of the next 13 points to go up by four, 19-15, with 11:39 left in the period. Down 23-19 at the 10-minute mark, Miami scored eight straight points, including back-to-back Ashley Hawkins' layups after steals, to take the lead for good. The run finished at 21-3, pushing the score to 40-26 by halftime. Wright State was held scoreless for the final 4:45 as Miami closed with nine straight points.
Wright State hit eight of its first 10 shots, but made just one of next 13 to finish the frame at 39.1 percent. Meanwhile, Miami shot 48.4 percent, held an 18-15 rebounding advantage and forced 13 turnovers in the opening frame.
"I think we made some adjustments," said head coach Maria Fantanarosa. "They penetrated the middle and we either fouled or gave up easy shots. When we were able to make some changes, things started to turn our way."

The lead reached its biggest point at 22 points twice during the second half -- 61-43 and 65-43 near the seven-minute mark.
Ironically, Wright State outshot and outrebounded the RedHawks for the game. A 56.0 percent effort by the Raiders after intermission helped cement a 47.9 percent to 44.3 percent advantage from the field. The 36-35 advantage on the boards was negated by 24 WSU turnovers.
Miami next hits the road for its longest trip of the season. The RedHawks compete in the Air Force Classic in Colorado Springs, Colo., this weekend. Competition begins on Friday with a 9:30 p.m. ET start against Texas-Pan American.
