POSTGAME QUOTES
MIAMI UNIVERSITY

Head Coach Maria Fantanarosa:
(Opening statement) "I felt that even though things weren't going our way in the first half in missing some easy shots, we held our composure in the second half, still kept getting it inside, still kept looking for our outside opportunities and worked as a team. That carried over into our defensive play. We knew rebounding would be a huge factor because of the strength of the post players for Western Michigan. Ball pressure would be key because we don't want their guards to have easy looks in getting it to their post players. We were patience and confident in each other going into the second half."

(On 7-point lead down to 2) "We were trying to get Kim the ball. We had some great passing. I'm starting to see my team mature with confidence and mature to know each other."

(On Cusick and her offensive game) "They did a great job on her. She wasn't looking to score that much off the dribble. She did play 40 minutes, and we did ask her to contribute in different ways. She had that steal at the end of the game that just sparked us. It was one of those player of the year moments where she's not going to let us lose. She's going to do what she has to do to win."

Student-Athlete Heather Cusick:
(On difference in the second half) "We just came out aggressive in the second half. We came together as a team."

(offensive struggles) "You have to give credit to Western Michigan, they had great pressure on me the whole game. Some of the shots were a little short because of playing the whole game, and the legs were a little sore."

Student-Athlete Kim Lancaster:
(seven point lead down to 2) "We started to play together as a team. In order to win, we needed to keep our composure."

(outside shooting helps) "If they double-team me, I have that kind of faith in my outside shooters to knock down shots."

(defending Koetser) "We wanted to take it as a pride thing."

Student-Athlete Jana Butler:
(outside shooting) "They were inside trying to stop Kim, so that gave me the open shot."
