Lisa Hayden begins her 11th season on the bench for Miami and her third as Associate Head Coach. Hayden, a standout for the Red and White from 1991-95, returned to her alma mater in 2001.
Hayden, who has served as the program's recruiting coordinator for the past five years, is also responsible for coaching the RedHawk guards. She has guided the career of some of the program's highest ranking guards. Both Jenna Schone (237) and Heather Cusick (230) finished their careers as Miami's all-time leader in three-point field goals, while in 2007-08, Schone broke the program record and led the MAC with 84 three-pointers. Under Hayden's tutelage, Amanda Jackson became the RedHawks' all-time leading scorer with 1,979 points. In 2007-08, Jackson set a new Miami single-season record by scoring 712 points.
The past two years, Hayden has helped guard Courtney Osborn record two of the top individual single-seasons in Miami history. As a freshman, Osborn scored 513 points, the sixth-best single-season performance in school history. That helped her earn MAC Freshman of the Year honors, as well as a spot on the All-MAC Third Team. Osborn topped that as a sophomore during the 2010-11 season, scoring 520 points, the fourth-best total in the annals of the Red and White .
Six RedHawks presently listed among Miami's career top 10 in three-point field goals worked with Hayden (Hayden herself ranks fourth on the list). The tradition has continued with Osborn, who has hit 73 and 71 three-pointers the past two years, breaking the Red and White's freshman and sophomore class records respectively.
Before returning to Miami, Hayden held a variety of posts at Mt. Notre Dame High School, one of the premiere prep schools in Cincinnati. From 1997-2001, as Mt. Notre Dame's Assistant A.D., Hayden helped coordinated an athletic department that consisted of 12 sports, 25 teams and more than 350 athletes. During this time, she also served as an assistant coach on the girls basketball team for two seasons, before taking the reins as head coach. In her first season, Hayden guided the team to a sweet 16 appearance in the Ohio state tournament. Prior to joining the staff at Mt. Notre Dame, Hayden served as the assistant girls' basketball coach at Badin High School from 1995-97.
One of the most prolific three-point shooters in Miami history, Hayden scorched the nets for 205 treys during her collegiate career, including a then-program record 68 three-pointers during her senior season. She also finished her career as one of just a handful of Miami women to clear 1,000 career points, amassing 1,047 points. That currently ranks 17th on Miami's all-time scoring list.
A native of Henderson, Ky., and inductee into the Henderson County High School Hall of Fame, Hayden earned a Bachelor of Science degree in education and allied professions from Miami in 1995.
