Senior and Team Recognition Dessert to be held April 14 at Knolls of Oxford.
Joining Miami this season as the new Assistant to the Head Coach is Shelly Bellman. Bellman comes to the RedHawks after completing her collegiate playing career at Cincinnati last season.
The Assistant to the Head Coach position helps with the promotion and marketing of the team. Bellman will look to continue initiatives that have already been started, such as the Weekly Video Series and the Facebook and Twitter pages. She will also assist on the monthly RedHawk Review newsletter and external communications.
Bellman was a four-year letterwinner for the Bearcats. She earned a spot on the Big East All-Freshman Team in 2006. As a sophomore in 2007, she was third on the team in scoring with 10.6 points per game and led the team in rebounding with 6.6 caroms per game. Bellman then missed two of the next three seasons due to knee injuries, before coming back as a sixth-year senior during the 2010-11 season. She averaged 5.9 points and 3.7 rebounds per game, and earned the Big East's Sportsmanship Award.
"Shelly is hard-working, her energy will be a positive addition to our staff, said Fantanarosa. "We look forward to her taking our marketing and promotions of women's basketball to the next level."
