OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University men's cross country team has jumped to seventh in the Great Lakes Region rankings as voted on by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

This past Saturday, the RedHawk men finished 21st out of 38 teams at the Pre-NCAA Invitational at Indiana State University, ahead of Clemson, Michigan State, Iowa and Tennessee, among others.

Pat Sovacool has paced the Miami runners all year and was the top finisher in Terre Haute, finishing 31st in 23:54. Michael Veatch, Brad Untrauer, Michael Perry, and Kevin Silver have often made up the rest of the scoring pack for the RedHawks, who have won two team scoring events on the season in the Dayton 5K Challenge and the George Mason Invitational.

The Red and White will make a dash for the MAC Championship when they next run on Saturday, Oct. 27 at Central Michigan University at 11 a.m.
