OXFORD, Ohio - Coming off of a victory at the Great American Legends Invitational on Sept. 5, the RedHawk men's cross country squad prepares to compete in the University of Tennessee Invitational on Friday at 6:15 p.m in Maryville, Tenn.

At Tennessee, Miami will face the host University of Tennessee, Georgia Tech, University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, Belmont and Bryan College.

"Tennessee was fourth in the SEC (Southeastern Conference) last year. They are always a good team. Our guys are looking forward to competing at another big school," said Miami head coach Warren Mandrell.

At the Great American Legends Invitational, hosted by Purdue University, senior Pat Sovacool and junior Kevin Silver battled for first place. In the end, Sovacool narrowly defeated Silver to win the 8K race with a time of 25:55.89. Silver finished moments behind at 25:56.03.

Also scoring for the RedHawks were senior Brad Untrauer in fifth with a time of 26:17.05, freshman Chris Dennison in seventh at 26:19.48 and sophomore Michael Perry in ninth at 26:23.59.

Since the strong showing at Purdue, the Miami has been actively preparing for the tough competition they will face in Tennessee.

"We have had great practices last week and this week. The change in weather has caused us to get faster," stated Mandrell.
