OXFORD, Ohio - Sophomore Brian Godsey (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota East) and freshman Andrea Kremer (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) paced the Miami men's and women's cross country team to successful finishes Saturday at the Miami Invitational
Godsey's second place finish, in a time of 25:15, helped lead the RedHawks to a first-place finish overall out of the ten teams participating, while Kremer's seventh-place finish, in a time of 18:16, helped lead her team to a third-place finish. Gareth Wilford was the individual winner, with a time of 25:09. Wilford was running unattached, which means he was not representing a school.
Miami's men's team finished with an overall score of 42, which was eight total places better than runner-up Ball State, which finished with a score of 50. The women's team finished with 86 points, which was third to Ball State's 52 points, and the winner Michigan's 28 points.
The Wolverines' top five runners placed first, second, fourth, 10th and 11th. Michigan's Katie Jazwinski was the individual winner with a time of 17:42. Miami sophomore Kylee Studer (Edgerton, Ohio/Mariemont) and freshman Carrie Hucko (Wexford, Ohio/North Allegheny) both finished in the top 20. Studer finished in 13th place and Hucko finished 20th.
The top five finishers for the RedHawk men's team placed first, seventh, 11th, 13th and 14th. Behind Godsey, freshman Jerry Claunch (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota East), sophomores Ryan Clark (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) and Adam Cross (West Chester, Ohio/Rochester Adams) and junior Nathan McClintock (Mantua, Ohio/Crestwood) rounded out the top five finishers for Miami.
Miami's men's and women's teams are back in action Saturday, Sept. 23 when they host the Miami Fall Classic at Western Campus Field.
