OXFORD, Ohio--Miami University junior Pat Sovacool (Lakewood, Ohio/St. Ignatius) was named the Mid-American Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week following a personal best time to win the Flyer 5K Challenge in the season-opening event for the RedHawks.

Sovacool set a meet record with his time of 15:02, which bested his nearest competitor by 13 seconds. His first-place finish spearheaded Miami to a first-place team finish, marking the fifth straight year the RedHawks have won the Flyer 5K Challenge. It was Sovacool's first first-place finish as a RedHawk.

The award is Sovacool's second weekly cross country runner of the week award, also being named cross country runner of the week on Sept. 26, 2006.
