CLEVELAND--Miami University men's cross country senior Pat Sovacool (Lakewood, Ohio/St. Ignatius) was tabbed the Mid-American Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday morning (Sept. 3).
Sovacool won his second-straight Dayton 5K Challenge on Aug. 30, crossing the finish line in 15:22. He led the RedHawks to their sixth-straight Dayton 5K team crown. The win also marks Sovacool's third-straight top-3 finish and fourth-straight top 10-finish at the event.
The league weekly award, the first of the season selected by the Mid-American Conference, is the fifth MAC weekly cross country award of Sovacool's career. With Miami's Laura Neufarth earning MAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, Miami completed a sweep of the conference's weekly awards the first week of the season.
