OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University men's cross country team will hit the trails this fall in an effort to build upon their runner-up finish at the 2007 Mid-American Conference Championships.
Leading the way for the RedHawks is perennial all-conference honoree Pat Sovacool. The Lakewood, Ohio native finished fourth overall at the MAC Championships and went on to qualify for the NCAA Championships with a 12th place finish at the Great Lakes Regional Championship.
Fellow senior Brad Untrauer, from McCordsville, Ind., is the next highest returning MAC finisher. He ended in eighth place at the conference championships and ran a season-best of 24:44 at the NCAA Pre-Nationals in October.
The RedHawks' 2008 success will hinge on juniors Kevin Silver, Paul Krebs, Ben Famous, Ryan Dezso, and Sam Cosgrove and second-year competitors Michael Perry, Adam Martin, Nick Helmuth, Robbie Fisher, Mike Fakler, and Chris Dennison. Each runner will be striving to climb finishing spots and earn Miami numerous team titles as they progress toward the 2008 MAC Championships at Eastern Michigan.
