NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Miami senior Pat Sovacool has been named to the All-Academic Team of the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, the organization announced today.
This is the second straight year that the Lakewood, Ohio, native has been selected to the team, which requires a 3.25 grade-point average and a finish in the top 10% of an NCAA Regional field.
A three-time Academic All-MAC selection, Sovacool holds a 3.59 GPA in Zoology and has been accepted to several dental schools for the fall. On the race course, he finished 12th at the Great Lakes Regional meet and placed 65th at the NCAA Championship. He was a two-time All-Great Lakes Region selection and advanced to the NCAA Championships twice during his career.
Sovacool was one of 40 runners to make the team and was the only representative from the Mid-American Conference.
