The RedHawks continue to nip at the heels of the nation’s top ranked teams as they finish 16th at the NCAA Pre-Nationals in Terre Haute, Ind.
Miami finished just 19 points behind No. 26 ranked Syracuse as the team prepares for the championships season to begin. Miami was lead by a 24th- place finish by Pat Sovacool in a time of 24:07.9 on the 8-kilometer course. Kevin Silver took second on the team and 62nd overall as he came across the line in a time of 24:34.9. The time is a personal-best for Silver by two seconds.
“Nice effort by the team today,” Miami head coach Warren Mandrell said. “Just about all the teams here today are regionally so come away with a 16th-place finish is very solid. I am very proud of the guys. They ran a great race.”
Chris Dennison finished 121st with a time of 25:05.2. Brad Untrauer was fourth for the Red and White and 135th overall with a time of 25:08.9. Paul Krebs rounded out the team’s Top 5 with a time of 25:12.5.
Next up for Miami, it will travel to Ypsilanti, Mich., for the Mid-American Conference championships on Nov. 1.
