OXFORD, Ohio - Top competition from Ohio and around the region will descend upon the George L. Rider Track and Field Complex this weekend when the Miami University men's and women's track and field teams host the Miami Invitational in Oxford. Running Friday and Saturday April 13-14, the 13th men's invitational features 15 teams, including eight from the Buckeye State, while the 22nd women's invitational boasts an 18-team field with nine Ohio institutions and three Mid-American Conference schools.

The meet kicks off with the men's and women's hammer throw Friday at 3:30 p.m. and continues at 11 a.m. Saturday, with 11 track and seven field events slated for a full day of action. The discus and 5,000 meters are the first two women's events slated for Saturday, while shot put and 5,000 meters are the first two men's events on the docket. Nearly eight hours of track and field action will follow Saturday's four opening events.

The Miami Invitational marks the third meet of the outdoor season for the Miami men's track and field team after it competed at both the Wake Forest Open (March 23-24) and Southern Ohio Cup (March 31). Through the season's first two meets, the RedHawks top performer has been senior Tom Herrmann. Herrmann turned in a regional-qualifying high jump of 6-10 in the season-opening meet at Wake Forest and added a first-place high jump finish at the Southern Ohio Cup.

On the women's side, the RedHawks have competed in three meets, posting a first-place finish at the Cincinnati/Ohio Triangular and turning in positive individual performances in non-scored meets at Alabama and Duke. Two Miamians regionally qualified in March, with junior Kristina Bolterstein (high jump) and freshman Brittney Bernardoni (pole vault) punching their ticket to the MidEast Regional May 25-26 in Columbia, Mo. Both Bolterstein and Bernardoni have placed in the top two in their respective events at each of the first three outdoor meets.

A complete listing of the Miami Invitational events is listed below. The meet is a ticketed event, with meet passes costing $10 for adults and $5 for youth.
