OXFORD, Ohio – The Miami University men’s track and field team travels to Bexley, Ohio, just outside Columbus, Saturday for its third and final indoor meet of the season, as the RedHawks will compete at the Rick Meindl Last Call meet, hosted by Capital University. The meet serves as Miami’s final competition in preparation for the outdoor season.
The meet gets underway at noon with the high jump, pole vault and long jump while action on the track heats up at 1:20 p.m. with the 5000m run. The final field event is the weight throw at 4:30 p.m. while the meet concludes at approximately 6:20 p.m. with the 4x400m relay. For a complete schedule of events, click here.
Miami will compete against schools from across the region, including Ohio schools such as Wittenberg, Denison, Otterbein and host Capital, as well as Kentucky State, among other teams. For a complete list of competitors by event, click here.
At last year’s Rick Meindl Last Call, the RedHawks took home the team title out of nine schools by winning eight events and totaling 230 points.
Last week, Miami won the All-Ohio Indoor Championships in Bowling Green, Ohio, totaling 176 points to defeat 11 other schools from around the state. Four RedHawks won individual titles, as junior Michael McCarty (Hudson, Ohio) won the heptathlon, junior David Serrano (Pickerington, Ohio) took first in the high jump, senior Paul Krebs (Kettering, Ohio) claimed the 5000m title and freshman Jack Spilman (Chagrin Falls, Ohio) won the 800m in just his second collegiate race.

After this weekend, Miami will have used up its three indoor meets allowed by NCAA rules in preparation for the outdoor season. The RedHawks then begin their outdoor season March 27 at the Vanderbilt Invitational.
