FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Miami University's Dan Beach, Jake Kuhner and Michael Veatch competed at the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships on Saturday in Fayetteville, Ark.

Beach finished 20th in the hammer throw with a mark of 186-8. He threw 174-1 in his first throw of the day and marked his long attempt in the second round before recording a foul in his third throw. The senior from Arlington, Ohio finished fourth in the first flight and 20th overall.

Kuhner ended in 14th place in the pole vault. The senior cleared 16-1 ¼ in his first attempt before missing three tries at 16-7 ¼. This effort marks his second-best showing of the season after clearing 16-6 ¾ at the MAC Championships on May 15.

Veatch finished in 21st place in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:36.69. His regional time is nearly 45 second slower than his lifetime best, set earlier this season at the 114th Penn Relays. The senior took 18th place in the second flight.

While Beach, Kuhner, Veatch and the rest of the RedHawks end their season, junior Pat Sovacool has qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 5,000 meters. The national championship meet will take place in Des Moines, Iowa on June 11-14.
