BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Miami University men's track and field team took fourth at the MAC Championships after Saturday's final events at Bowling Green State University.
The RedHawks scored 129.50 points while Akron took the team championship with 183 points. Second place Eastern Michigan had 182 points, while Kent State was third at 153 points.
Pat Sovacool ran very impressively in the 1500 meter, hanging with the pack until there were 1000 meters to go when he sprinted out to a 30-meter lead and held on for the win and a time of 4:02.28. He followed that up with an even more impressive with in the 5000 meters, winning with a time of 14:53.71.
Kevin Silver and Michael Veatch came in fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 5000 meters with times of 15:07.16 and 15:08.94.
Jesse Whitman earned a fifth place finish in the 110-meter hurdles at 14.87. Matt Kessler took fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.78.
Cedric Diakabana ran a good 800 meters, coming in third at 1:55.85. Jason Coniglio took seventh in the 100 meters with a time of 10.69. Justinn Eddie was fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 48.87.
Travis Brumm was sixth in the high jump, clearing 6-6 ¾.
The RedHawk 4X400 meter relay team took fifth at 3:20.53, while the 4X100 meter team was fourth at 41.71.
Several RedHawks will move onto compete in the NCAA Regionals. More information will be forthcoming.
