OXFORD, Ohio--On day one of the Mid-American Conference Championships, Miami University's men's track and field team turned in some solid performances. The RedHawks are tied for sixth, scoring 11 points on the first day of competition. Senior Jake Kuhner paced the way for the RedHawks, finishing among the top eight in two events.
Kuhner finished fourth on jumps in the pole vault with a height of 15-7 to earn five points for the RedHawks. Miami had two RedHawks place among the top eight in the javelin with junior Bryan Ferres recording a throw of 184-0 to finish fourth and Kuhner recording a distance of 165-7 to place eighth.
Sophomore Mitch Reynolds completed five events in the decathlon, turning in first-place finishes in the long jump with a jump of 22-8 ½ and the shot put with a distance of 45-3. Reynolds also placed sixth in the 400-meter dash in a time of 0:53.69 and seventh in the 100-meter dash--clocking a time of 0:11.88--and seventh in the high jump, clearing a height of 5-11 1/4. Reynolds stands fourth in the overall standings heading into the remaining events.
