BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Freshman Jake Dunkleberger (Smyrna, Ga./The Lovett School) continued his pursuit of the RedHawk hammer throw record, posting one of five PR's for Miami University's men's track & field team, Friday evening at the Billy Hayes Invitational in Bloomington. The Hayes invite was non-scoring and served as the Red and White's final tune-up for next weekend's MAC Championships.
Already second in the Miami record books in the event, Dunkleberger threw 202-3 to take fifth and top his previous best of 202-1. Also setting a personal mark was junior Kelly Tenbrink(Cincinnati, Ohio/La Salle) who become the second Red and White qualifier of the year in the pole vault, clearing a personal-best 16-4 3/4 to finish tied for third. Freshman Jake Kuhner (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington), who qualified regionally in the event earlier this season, tied for eighth with a final height of 15-11, while decathlete senior Richard Collins (Marion, Ohio/Ridgedale) also PR'd in the pole vault, clearing 15-5.
The top finish of the day for the RedHawks was junior Erik Reynolds (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota East), who tied for first in the high jump with a final height of 6-9. Freshman Tom Herrmann (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington) tied for sixth in the event, clearing 6-7 1/2. The distance core also added a pair of top-10 finishes with senior Jerry Claunch (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota East) in the 1,500m and freshman Ryan Hutton (Columbus, Ind./North) in the 3,000m. Claunch logged a time of 3:51.29 in taking third and Hutton finished sixth in 8:39.81.
Junior rob King (Moore's Hill, Ind./South Dearborn), coming off a win in the discus last week, took ninth in the event with a PR throw of 159-5. Freshman Justin Campbell (East Liverpool, Ohio/East Liverpool) rounded out the Red and White's personal records with a time of 9:36.98 in taking 13th in the 3,000m steeplechase.

The RedHawks return to action when they host the Outdoor MAC Track & Field Championships, May 13-15, at George L. Rider Track. Miami is seeking its first MAC Championship since 1993 and 15th overall.
