INDIANAPOLIS - Junior Dan Beach registered a career-best toss in the hammer throw with a distance of 181-1 as four athletes from the Miami University men's track and field team competed Saturday at Butler University's Stan Lyons Invitational. Beach was one of three Miamians who posted top-five finishes in Indianapolis.

Eclipsing his previous career-best of 179-8 in the hammer throw, Beach was one of four athletes of the 23 who competed in the hammer throw to top 180 feet. Beach's throw also moved him up to eighth on the program's all-time top 10 list in the event. His throw was less than two feet away from the regional-qualifying standard.

Junior Brandon Kistler added a season-best and career-best time in the 100 meters, as he clocked in with a fifth-place time of 10.92.

Additional Miamians who competed at Butler were junior Jake Kuhner in the pole vault and freshman Chris Maloney in the 110-meter hurdles. Kuhner finished fourth in the pole vault with a clearance of 15-7, while Maloney placed 16th in the hurdles.

The RedHawks will compete in one final tuneup prior to hosting the Mid-American Conference Championships when they travel to the Billy Hayes Invitational May 4.
