LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Three RedHawks won events to lead Miami University's men's track & field at the Cardinal Classic, Friday, in Louisville. Freshman Jake Dunkleberger (Smyrna, Ga./The Lovett School), senior Edan Peleg (Hackensack, Ohio/Hackensack) and senior Ryan Clark (Eaton, Ohio/Eaton) each took top honors in their events to lead the Red and White at the non-scoring meet.

Dunkleberger remained undefeated as a collegian in the hammer throw, tossing 188-11 to take top honors in the event. He also took fifth in the shot put with a distance of 51-0, just ahead of senior Will Stanley (Cleveland, Ohio/Trinity) in sixth place at 50-0. In the javelin, Peleg was victorious for the second weekend in a row, with a throw of 177-3. In the steeplechase it was Clark taking top honors, completing the 3,000m course in 9:33.73.

Three RedHawks were among the top five of the high jump, while a pair of Miami runners were among the top five in the 800m. Junior Erik Reynolds (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota East) was the top Red and White finisher, clearing 6-8 for second place. Freshman Tom Herrmann (Upper Arlington, Ohio/Upper Arlington) took third, also clearing 6-8, while sophomore Kyle Kraus (Kingville, Ontario/Kingville) finished fifth with a final height of 6-4.

Sophomore Eric Steyer (Defiance, Ohio/Defiance) finished the 800m second in 1:53.02, with junior Steve Schilling (St. John, Ind./Lake Central) taking fourth in 1:54.22.

Five other Miamians posted top-five finishes, including the 4x400 relay's second-place finish in a time of 3:18.13. Sophomore Bobby Houston (Hilliard, Ohio/Hilliard Davidson) placed fourth in the 400m hurdles in a time of 54.83, while also posting a sixth-place finish in the 110m hurdles (15.29). Sophomore Eric Bowman (Dayton, Ohio/Dayton Christian) finished just ahead of Houston in fifth (15.13).

 

 

Freshman Eric Sylvester (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Ignatius) and junior Kelly Tenbrink (Cincinnati, Ohio/LaSalle) took fifth in the 400m and pole vault, respectively. Sylvester crossed the line in 49.53 and Tenbrink cleared 15-11.

Miami returns to action next weekend at the Southern Ohio Cup, hosted by Ohio University. The RedHawks are to be joined by the host Bobcats and Cincinnati.
