The Miami University men's track and field squad finished third out of 18 teams at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational at Gettler Stadium on the campus of the University of Cincinnati on Saturday.
Michael Veatch and Michael Perry finished first and second in the 5,000 meters with Veatch winning in 14:33.77 and Perry ending in 14:50.17.
Jesse Whitmand and Michael McCarty took fourth and sixth in the 110-meter hurdles with times of 15.27 and 15.33, respectively.
Jason Coniglio and Kyle Alexander were 10th and 11th, respectively, in the 200-meter dash with times of 22.44 and 22.53. Coniglio was 13th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.21. Alexander was 17th at 11.32.
Travis Brumm was second in the high jump, clearing 6-8 ¾.
Jake Kuhner was third in the pole vault at 16-0 ¾, while Alex Boiwka was seventh and Chris Skaggs were seventh and ninth, with heights of 15-1 and 14-7 ¼, respectively.
Josh Rees was seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 42-6 ¼.
Cedric Diakabana took ninth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.61, while Ryan Sottoway was 13th at 50.34.
Matt Kessler was 10th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.37, while Eric Horvath was 15th at 57.79.
The Miami 4X100-meter relay team of Coniglio,

Josh Rees and Alexander took fifth with a time of 42.27.
The RedHawks' 4X400-meter relay team of Diakabana, Sottoway, Steffan Flessa and Michael Spangler was seventh at 3:21.88.
Spangler was 19th in the 800 meters with a time of 1:58.00.
Adam Ruiz was 17th in the shot put with a distance of 45-10 ½. Ruiz was 16th in the discus at 142-1, while John Gausmann was 10th at 148-2 and Dan Beach was 13th at 145-11.
Beach would take second in the hammer with a mark of 192-1. Mitch Reynolds would hit 154-7 in the javelin, good for seventh place, while McCarty and Corey Hinton finished 10th and 11th, respectively, with marks of 145-4 and 140-10.
Kevin Silver took 10th in the 1500 meter run, ending in 4:00.43, while Paul Krebs and Robbie Fisher were 16th and 17th with times of 4:04.42 and 4:04.78, respectively.
Ryan Dezso was fourth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at 9:45.83.
The RedHawks return home on Friday and Saturday to host the Miami Team Challenge at the George L. Rider Track in Oxford.
