DURHAM, N.C. - Freshman Jake Dunkleberger (Smyrna, Ga./The Lovett School) won the hammer throw as Miami University's men's track & field team opened its season at the Duke Invitational, April 2-3, in Durham. The RedHawks posted nine top-10 finishes at the non-scoring event.

At his first meet with the Red and White, Dunkleberger topped the hammer throw field with a distance of 197-6 to put him second in the Miami record books behind Dennis Kline who threw 206-7 in 1989. He also took eighth in the shot put, throwing 50-4 3/4.Senior Will Stanley (Cleveland, Ohio/Trinity) took fifth in the event with a distance of 52-0.

Freshman Jake Kuhner (Pickerington, Ohio/Pickerington) took fourth in the pole vault with a top-10 height among Miamians. Kuhner cleared 16-0 3/4, putting him ninth in the record books. Also in the pole vault, junior Kelly Tenbrink (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) took 10th with a height of 14-7 3/4. The RedHawks put two finishers among the top 10 of the high jump, as well. Senior Erik Reynolds (West Chester,Ohio/Lakota East) led the way with a fifth-place finish and 6-9 1/2 height, as sophomore Kyle Kraus (Kingville, Ontario/Kingville) tied for eighth with a height of 6-6 1/4.

Miami's 4x800 relay and senior Nick Somerville (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) also finished in the top 10. The 4x800 finished seventh in 7:43.36, while Somerville jumped 22-4 1/4 in taking 10th in the long jump.

The RedHawks return to action when they host the Miami Invitational, April 10th, at George L. Rider Track in Oxford.
