OXFORD, Ohio - Coach Pete Lindsay's Miami University men's swimming and diving team hosts two intriguing dual meets this weekend, competing against Big Ten power Ohio State on Friday (Nov. 13) at 5 p.m., then meeting Division III power Kenyon on Saturday (Nov. 14) at 1 p.m. at the Nixon Aquatic Center.

Miami lost a pair of non-conference meets last Saturday at Notre Dame, falling to the Fighting Irish, 232.5-67.5, and to Cleveland State, 181-117. The RedHawks are 2-4 overall in dual meet competition and 1-1 against Mid-American Conference teams.

Miami's quartet of DAVE BROWN (Lake Orion), MIKE CARROLL (Toledo), MATT GRUBB (Centerville), ROB JACKSON (Cincinnati) and Austin Kosier (Toledo) are all seniors and will be expected to be point producers for the RedHawks. Brown won the 50-yard freestyle against Notre Dame in a time of 21.36. Sophomore Chris Gunnels (Chapel Hill, NC), MAC Swimmer of the Week two weeks ago, was a double-winner against CSU, taking first in the 200 freestyle (1:42.87) and the 200 backstroke (1:54.62). Sophomore diver JIM BERES (Columbus) captured both the one- and three-meter diving competitions against the Vikings.

Ohio State will bring a split squad to Miami on Friday, sending another unit on Friday to meet Dennison. Coach Bill Wadley's Buckeyes, 1-0 on the season with a complete-team win over Kenyon two weeks ago, have not lost a dual meet to an Ohio school in 11 years (Cincinnati in 1997-98). Ohio State's outstanding diving squad, paced by Ryan Jefferson and Burkley Showe, will travel to Oxford to compete against the Redhawks. The Buckeye swimming and diving team is led by a class of 14 seniors, 11 of whom scored points for the Buckeyes' runner-up finish at the 2009 Big Ten championships.

Kenyon, coached by the legendary Jim Steen, is once again deep in talent and shows a 1-1 dual meet record thus far. Steen, now in his 35th season, has directed the Kenyon men's team to 28 of its record 30 consecutive NCAA national championships, while at the same time, he's guided the Ladies to 21 of their 23 national titles. Steen has won more NCAA national championships (49) than any other coach in any NCAA sport. Kenyon freestyler and breaststroker Collin Ohning had a hand in three event wins last Saturday, lifting the Lords swim team to a convincing 145-92 victory over Denison University.

Miami's next action comes on December 3-5 when it hosts its Invitational at the Nixon Aquatic Center.
