After two first-place finishes and a second place finish in Miami's loss to Louisville and win over Xavier last weekend, freshman Darin Smith was named Mid-American Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week, the conference announced today.

Smith put together a solid weekend as the RedHawks split with Louisville and Xavier. In Miami's loss to Louisville, Smith gave the RedHawks a second-place finish in the 1,000 freestyle, before winning the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:11.97. Against Xavier, Smith blew by the field winning the 1,000 freestyle by over 21 seconds.

The RedHawks host their next dual meet against Cleveland State at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, at Nixon Aquatic Center.
