OXFORD, Ohio - Miami University men's swimming & diving team was picked to finish third in the Mid-American Conference, according to the league's preseason coaches' poll released by the MAC office on Friday.

Eastern Michigan was picked to repeat as league champions, and capture its MAC-record 23rd league crown, while Ball State was tabbed to finish second. Miami was selected in third, ahead of Buffalo and Ohio, who were picked fourth and fifth, respectively, in the five-school conference.

The RedHawks boast a young team, and will have to look to a four-member senior class to replace all-MAC performer Kelly Ball. Senior Andrew Keefe will take on the senior leader role, as he is the lone all-MAC honoree returning for head coach Pete Lindsay.

Miami will be looking to claim its seventh conference championship, and first since the 1998-99 season. Lindsay has guided the Red and White to a pair of those MAC crowns, and just two finishes below third place during his 18-year tenure.

The Red and White kicks off its 2003-04 season Friday, Oct. 31. Miami travels to Cleveland State on Friday, before heading to Buffalo for its first league meet of the season on Saturday, Nov. 1.
