OXFORD, Ohio -One day after being named Mid-American Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week, senior Dave Bergan (Cincinnati, Ohio/Princeton) completed a rare sweep of MAC weekly honors by becoming the ninth RedHawk this year to earn MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week plaudits.

A middle childhood education major with a 3.72 grade point average, Bergan helped Miami to a defeat of arch-rival Ohio University last week as the RedHawks earned their first MAC victory of 2002-03. In his final meet in Oxford, Bergan, a team captain, notched two individual victories while also swimming a leg of Miami's victorious 400-yard medley relay. Individually, Bergan swept the sprint events, winning the 50- and 100-yard freestyle races.

Bergan joins fellow senior Kelly Ball (Granger, Ind./Penn) as the second Miami men's swimmer to capture the honor this season.
