After falling to Purdue in its last meet, the Miami men's swimming and diving team looks to get back on track when it heads to Buffalo, N.Y. to face MAC rival Buffalo this Saturday at 1 p. m.
Buffalo is coming off of a 148-89 win over Niagara last Saturday and the Bulls won nine events in the meet. Scott Woster won the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly in his first action of the season.
Chris Heaton captured the sole first place finish in an individual event for the RedHawks by winning the three-meter dive with a score of 354.15. Sophomore Austin Kosier earned second in the 100 breaststroke with a new PR of 1:00.84. To close the meet, Zac Siegel, Lenny Wanta, Chase Mortimer, and John Eick won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:17.61.
A series of second place finishes earned the majority of the RedHawk's points against the Boilermakers. Senior Ryan McHugh finished second in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 46.53, and in the 50-yard freestyle. Jason Bank finished second in the 400-yard individual medley in 4:14:74, and senior Paul Ricard added to the series when he finished second in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 15:55:37. The conference also announced on Tuesday, Jan. 22 that Ricard was named MAC's Swimmer of the Week.
After traveling to the University of Buffalo this weekend, the RedHawks will return home to meet with Eastern Michigan on Feb. 2 at 2 p.m.
Results for the Miami/Buffalo meet will be posted once they are received.
