OXFORD, Ohio - Miami University senior swimmer Paul Ricard has been named the Mid-American Conference Swimmer of the Week for his performances in meets against Cincinnati and Purdue last week.

Ricard led the RedHawks to a dual meet win over Cincinnati on Tuesday as he recorded four Top-two finishes in four different events during the week. Against Cincinnati, Ricard registered a time of 9:35.99 in the 1000 freestyle that earned him a first-place finish by over two seconds. One event later, Ricard finished in second place in the 200 freestyle and he missed back-to-back first-place finishes as he lost the 200 free by eight-one-hundreths of a second.

Later in the meet, Ricard avenged his loss in the 200 free as he notched a come-from-behind win in the 500 freestyle. Trailing with 25 yards remaining, Ricard made up lost ground and defeated Cincinnati's Nathan Williams by one-tenth of a second, which was Miami's first winning event since Ricard won the 1000 free.

Against No. 12 Purdue, Ricard had one of Miami's best finishes of the day as he finished second in the 1,650 free with a time if 15:55.37.

The Miami swimming and diving will next compete at the University at Buffalo on Saturday, Jan. 26.
