2003-2004 Overall Record: 3-2 * 2003-2004 MAC Record: 2-0

This Week: Miami University's men's swimming and diving team returns to Ohio after winter training for its first competition since hosting the Miami Invitational, Dec. 5-7. The swimmers have returned from Florida, while the divers trained in Hawaii with the women's team and diving coach Todd Spohn.

The RedHawks welcome Cincinnati and Kenyon to the Nixon Center for a triangular at the Nixon Center on Friday, Jan. 16, before traveling to Columbus for a dual meet with Ohio State. Each of Friday's opponents competed at the Miami Invite.

Last Time Out: The RedHawks last competed at the Miami Invitational, held Dec. 5-7 at the Nixon Center. After spending the majority of the weekend in fourth place, Miami made a final-day surge to finish second at their own event. Sophomore Scott Robson (Glenbard, Ill./Glenbard South) won the 200 butterfly, and was the Red and White's lone individual winner. After pacing the preliminary field on Sunday morning, Robson edged senior Andrew Keefe (Cincinnati, Ohio/St. Xavier) by a second for the win in the championship heat.

About Cincinnati/Kenyon: Cincinnati enters the week with a 2-1 mark, coming off a triangular split with Dartmouth (win) and No. 18 Hawaii (loss). The Bearcats spent their winter break training in Hawaii, and placed fourth at this season's Miami Invite in their last trip to Oxford.

Kenyon has won the last 24 Division III National Championships and looks poised for No. 25. The Lords are 4-0, and repeated as Miami Invite Champions in their last competition. KC is competing against its third and four Division I opponents of the season, having defeated Ohio and Duquesne in November.

About Ohio State: The Buckeyes are coming of their first loss of the season against No. 25 Indiana, and boast a 5-1 record. A member of the tough Big Ten, five teams ranked in the Top 25, OSU has competed against one MAC team this season, defeating Ohio, 153-82, on Jan. 3.

Mid-Major: Miami currently sits in fourth place in the most recent CollegeSwimming.com Mid-Major poll. Among teams that have entered their team scores, the RedHawks sit fourth with 243.15 points behind Western Kentucky (3rd place- 245.47 points), Southwest Missouri State (2nd- 245.47) and last year's MAC Champions, Eastern Michigan in first with 249.85 points.

The Mid-Major Poll consists of 22 conferences that are excluded from lucrative football and basketball television contracts.

Swimmers Of The Week: Freshman Paul Ricard (Bowling Green, Ohio/Bowling Green) was the last of three RedHawks to take home MAC Swimmer of the Week honors, thus far this season. Ricard's honor came on Nov. 25th and was preceded by a weekend of action that saw the distance specialist remain perfect in both the 500 and 1000 freestyle events.

Ricard joined Andrew Keefe and junior Peter Donohue (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin), who won back-to-back awards for Miami on Nov. 3 and Nov. 10.

Up Next: Miami returns to MAC action, traveling to Athens for a dual meet with Ohio. The RedHawks and Bobcats hit the water at 4 p.m.
