Miami University's men's swimming and diving team kick off 2008 by competing in the Florida Atlantic Invitational at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 5. Missouri State, Penn, and Florida Atlantic are the other teams participating in the invitational.
The RedHawks last meet was the Miami Invitational Nov. 29 - Dec.1, where the RedHawks finished in fourth place out of 13 teams. During the invitational, junior Chris Heaton finished in first place in one-meter and three-meter diving, while seniors Ryan McHugh and Paul Ricard finished in second place in the 100 free and 500 free, respectively. Ricard also registered a first-place finish in the 1,650.
Following the Florida Atlantic Invitational, the RedHawks will have 10 days off before facing local rival Cincinnati at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center in Oxford. The RedHawks and Bearcats competed against each other in the Miami Invitational with the RedHawks earning a fourth place finish (1,114 points) compared to a sixth place finish for the Bearcats (852 points).
Results from the Florida Atlantic Invitational will be posted as soon as results are received following the event.
