The Miami men's swimming and diving team stands in fifth place out of 13 teams after the finals at the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center on the second day of the Miami Invitational on Friday evening. Sophomore Peter Donohue (Cincinnati, Ohio/Turpin) led the RedHawks on Friday when he set a Miami record and a Mid-American Conference record in men's one-meter diving.

Donohue beat out five Indiana University swimmers who placed second through sixth in the one-meter event. Donohue stood second going into the finals but finished the evening with a final score of 356.20.

Senior Kelly Ball (Granger, IN/Penn) placed second in the championship final event on Friday as he touched the wall in 1:39.55, which stands as an exceptionally strong time during the early portion of the season.

Senior Andy Norr (Schoolcraft, Mich./Portage Central) won the bonus consolation heat with a strong finish to place 19th overall with a time of 4:08.23.

Kenyon College still maintains the lead on the men's side with Miami right behind the University of Toledo in fifth place.

The Miami Invitational will continue with prelims at 9 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m. at the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center on Saturday.
